The New Zealand Gay and Lesbian Tourism Association (NZGLTA) is a professional, non-profit organisation which has been established to assist the gay, lesbian and bisexual traveller by maintaining standards of service and hospitality in tourism related products.

The main aims of the New Zealand Gay and Lesbian Tourism Association are:

• To foster the development of a gay and lesbian tourism infrastructure within New Zealand
  

• Help in the promotion of gay and lesbian tourism to and within New Zealand
  

• To maintain standards of service, hospitality and travel related products and services.
  

• To enhance the development of training programmes that will enhance the quality of New Zealand's gay and lesbian tourism products and service.
  

• Committed to the welfare and satisfaction of the gay, lesbian and bisexual traveller.
  

• To liaise with the main stream tourism industry on the needs of the gay, lesbian and bisexual traveller.

To maintain quality service and standards, each tourism provider will have either "NZGLTA Member" or "Approved Gay Friendly" displayed on their information page. By having 'NZGLTA Member' or 'Approved Gay Friendly' means that Tourism Provider meets the minimum required standard of service, hospitality or travel related product.

The New Zealand Gay Lesbian Tourism Association 'Approved Gay Friendly' criteria is -

• The Owners and Mangement of a tourism operation is committed in supporting gay and lesbian lifestyle and are not seen to be exploiting gay & lesbian travellers.
  
• That gay and lesbian guests can express their lifestyle openly and that the tourism operators owners, management and staff can handle any complaint from any person who disapproves of gay and lesbian lifestyle.
  
• To be proactive in the marketing and promotion of New Zealand as a gay and lesbian destination.

New Zealand Gay Lesbian Tourism Association is a affiliated to Gay Tourism New Zealand for the continual ongoing development of New Zealand's gay and lesbian tourism industry

New Zealand Gay Lesbian Tourism Association also works closely with the New Zealand Tourism Board and the New Zealand Tourism Industry Association (NZTIA).
